Postural Training

Environmental loads, stresses, and strains (associated with gravity, or even the furniture you rest on) can be balanced and contained by optimal posturing. However, unbalanced trunk and limb positioning can lead to tissue damage and the onset of pain and other symptoms. Therefore, postural training can enhance tissue healing and prevent recurrent injury and symptoms.

A comprehensive approach to postural training begins with education to ensure a patients understanding of optimal body positioning. Once appreciated by the patient, optimal posturing can be achieved and enhanced through various feedback mechanisms including verbal, tactile, visual and imagery.
